The cherry blossoms are out in full force this weekend here in Washington DC. It was an absolutely beautiful day so I took the chance to head out and take some awesome pictures. Don't you wish you were in Washington right now?

We're Famous :)

So maybe this is just a 'Shauna and Kenton Oakes' family thing, but Dan and Tyler and I like to look at this website called icanhascheezburger.com which has funny pictures of cats with funny captions. We just like it because we can get a good laugh out of it, especially because all the captions are in this language called "lolspeak", which is really funny. So when we were at the family reunion this past summer Dan and I came up with one of our own that we thought was really funny, and today I decided to put it up on the website. :) So Dan and I are now on icanhascheezburger.com :) I hope at least maybe mom and dad and Tyler think this is funny. hahah here is the link to see the picture on the actual website. If you go to it you should vote 5 cheezburgers for it. :)

Seattle

Christine and I took a weekend trip to Seattle so that she could visit her family, I could meet her parents for the first time and so we could get a little needed vacation. A large part of the trip was our adventure on Orcas Island, one of the San Juan Islands in the Puget Sound. We took a fairy leaving from Anacortes and came ashore, car and all. Over the next 2 days we explored the island: did many hikes, saw sites and visited the local stores, built fires and slept in a rustic cottage over 100 years old, right on the water. We ran the gamut of weather conditons including: snow, rain, sunshine, cloudy and foggy. We had to time our pictures just right so as to be able to capture the panoramic view before weather set in and covered it up. We had a great time-good people, good food, good competition for games..... good atmosphere!

Week With Tyler!

This past week Tyler surprised me by coming up to Provo with Christine! :) They were here from Wednesday to Saturday. It was SO much fun, I honestly haven't had that much fun in a long time. I was so glad to spend some time with Ty and Christine and her younger sister Bonnie, who also goes here to BYU. We did tons of fun things like going to Bonnie's basketball and soccer intramurals (which were fun to watch!) and they went to my intramural intertube waterpolo game and we played badminton for hours and went to Chuck E. Cheese's and played card games and went hiking at Aspen Grove and Sundance and took lots of pictures and had einstein bagels and pizza and had contests....and we laughed A LOT. :) Here are some pictures! Thanks Tyler and Christine for coming to see us!

Favorite Quote of the Week!

"The only way to get through life is to laugh your way through it. You either have to laugh or cry. I prefer to laugh. Crying gives me a headache."-

Classic Family Story :)

So tonight as I talked to mom and dad I remembered a story from a few years ago that will forever be a family classic.
So one time Mom, Dad and I went to a Nickel Creek concert at an outdoor theater thing that was relatively small (for a concert) but we were still far enough away to not see the stage quite clearly. I happened to have forgotten my glasses, so I my vision was definitely not good enough to see what was going on. I sat between mom and dad  and the concert started. It was still light outside, so mom had her prescription sunglasses, but other than that we had nothing to help, so I just dealt with the fact that I couldn't see. Soon enough it got dark and mom didn't need those sunglasses anymore. Since it was dark, it got harder and harder for me to see and I was getting frustrated cuz the concert wasn't even worth it if I couldn't see anything. So mom and I made what I would have considered a reasonable ruckus trying to figure out what to do. Eventually I settled for using mom's sunglasses...in the dark...but if that wasn't dumb enough, mom has a different prescription than me and her stronger eye is opposite mine...so I literally HAD to wear them upside down. So here I am watching the darn concert wearing my MOTHER's SUNglasses UPSIDEdown. You would think maybe someone-- especially someone very near, even RIGHT NEXT to me (aka dad) might have noticed this whole process. Well...he didn't. I sat there the rest of the concert like that, just dealing with it and relatively enjoying myself. Eventually the concert ended and we all walked out to the car along with the crowd. I gave mom's sunglasses back to her and complained a little about what I just had to do with them for the past 2 hours. When dad heard me mention I couldn't see, he casually lifted up his arm (with something in his hand) and said "Sharee, why didn't you just use our binoculars?" "um, We didn't BRING our binoculars Dad." "Yeah we did, I put them under your chair, they were there the whole time why didn't you just say something?" ....yeah...thats right....Dad brought the binoculars, put them under MY chair, and proceeded NOT to mention that to anyone else. And somehow he didn't notice anything mom and I did to help me see the concert better. Mom and I got a little frustrated but it was mostly just funny to see dad holding the binoculars that could have so easily solved all problems. Then all dad said was "welp.... I was a loser at the beginning of the day...and now I'm a loser at the end of the day." hahah, we all just started laughing at the whole situation and mom and I assured dad of course he wasn't a loser. haha, it was definitely a night I won't forget for a LONG time. :)
